Open Ice for Star 2 to 5 and up

Before lessons officially begin, we would like to welcome our skaters back. To get a jump start on skating, we will be offering two Open Ice sessions for registered skaters in STAR 2, STAR 3, STAR 4 and STAR 5 & Up.

  • Tuesday September 3 @ 3:45 – 5:30 PM (Star 2 – 5 & Up Tuesday Open Ice – Fall 2019)
  • Thursday, September 5 @ 3:45 – 5:30 PM (Star 2 – 5 & Up Thursday Open Ice – Fall 2019)

There is no cost to participate but you must log into your account and register your attendance by Sunday, September 1st, 2019. Skaters must be registered for the Fall/Winter 2019/20 season and have paid their registration fees prior to being permitted on the ice.

2019-20 Fall & Winter Skating Programs

Priority Registration for 2019/20 Skating will open at 7:00 am on Monday, August 12 for current RPFSC Members.

Registration will open to the public at 7:00 am on Monday, August 19 and will remain open on a first come first serve basis until sessions are full.

Limited Parking beginning November 3

The Nat Bailey Winter Market  begins Saturday, November 3rd and runs every Saturday until April 28, 2019 from 10am to 2pm in the parking lot and plaza of Nat Bailey Stadium and Hillcrest Centre. Parking will be VERY limited on these days.

Please ensure you allow additional time to find parking so that you will not be late for lessons – especially for CanSkate lessons at noon!

While it is also tempting to visit the Market, CanSkate Parents Caregivers must remain at the rink during the your skater’s lesson to ensure you will be able to meet your skater if they come off during the lesson.

2018 Fall CanSkate Parent Meetings

To ensure that our CanSkate families and skaters have a positive skating experience with us, we will be holding CanSkate Information Meetings this week for parents/guardians of our CanSkaters.

Our CanSkate Coordinator Carissa Wong will be reviewing safety and equipment, skater evaluation and answering any questions you may have about our program.

The meetings will take place in the lobby of the skating rink as scheduled:

  • 4:00 pm – Tuesday, September 25
  • 4:00 pm – Thursday, September 27
  • 12:15 pm – Saturday, September 29

Winter Warm Up and Program Assistant Training – Saturday, September 8

Our Annual Winter Warm Up and Program Assistant Training will take place on Saturday, September 8 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Winter Warm Up is for skaters in STAR 1, STAR 2, STAR 3, STAR 4 and STAR 5 and up. Your skater must be registered for Fall session in order to participate in the On-Ice portions of the day.

Program Assistant Training (CanSkate Clinic) 

Skaters who are in Star 2 and up who wish to Program Assist CanSkate during the 2018/19 Skating Season are asked to attend the CanSkate Clinic. Please come with the days you will be available to Program Assist for September to December.

CanSkate sessions run on:

  • Tuesdays – 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Thursdays – 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Saturdays – 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm

8:45 am

  • All skaters should arrive by this time to prepare for their on-ice or off ice session.

  • On-Ice – Star 1, 2, 3 and 4

Registration for 2018-19 Fall Winter Lessons

Hope you have been enjoying our summer so far. Hard to believe we are getting ready for Fall!

Priority Registration for CanSkate will open to our current RPFSC members on Thursday, August 9 at 7:00 am.

Registration for CanSkate will then open to the public on Wednesday, August 15 at 7:00 am and will remain open on a first come first serve basis until all classes are full.

Registration for PreStar, Star 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and up will open on Monday, August 20 at 7:00 am. Skaters who wish to register in these sessions require approval from RPFSC’s Head Coach before registering.

2017 RPFSC Skate Swap

Our Annual Skate Swap will take place on Saturday, September 9, from 10:00 am to noon in the change area outside of the rink.

If you wish to place items (skates, dresses, skirts, etc.) for sale in the swap, please read and follow the procedure

  1. Items for sale will be received between 9:00 am and 9:50 am only. There will be a payment envelope available for each item being offered for sale. Fill in the form (name, price of item) and attach the envelope to your item, using the elastic provided.
  1. Please note:  All skates must be approved by the attending coach before being put out for sale to ensure they are in good condition. The coach will review all skates at 9:50 am. Skates that do not meet with the coach’s approval can be retrieved immediately or after the sale by the seller. There is no guarantee skates put into the swap will be offered for sale.
  1. Envelopes for sold items and all unsold items must be picked up between noon and 12:45 pm.  Our club does not have room to store things. Any items not collected in the 45 minutes following the swap will be taken to a consignment store, and proceeds will be paid out to RPFSC. Any items not accepted by the consignment store will be donated to charity.
