Fall CanSkate Parent Meetings

To ensure that our CanSkate families and skaters have a positive skating experience with us, we will be holding CanSkate Information Meetings this week for parents/guardians of our CanSkaters.

Our CanSkate Coordinator Carissa Wong will be reviewing safety and equipment, skater evaluation and answering any questions you may have about our program.

The meetings will take place in the lobby of the skating rink as scheduled:

  • 4:00 pm – Tuesday, September 19
  • 4:00 pm – Thursday, September 21
  • 12:15 pm – Saturday, September 23

Parent Meeting – Saturday, September 9

As we had communicated in August, RPFSC is implementing Skate Canada’s new STAR 1-5  program that replaces our previous StarSkate Figure Skating Program.

We will be holding a Parent Meeting on Saturday, September 9 between 9:15 am to noon to provide information on this new STAR 1-5 program and to answer any questions that arise as a result.

Parents of skaters in STAR 1, STAR 2, STAR 3 and STAR 4 are highly encouraged to attend this Parent Meeting.

Please check in with our desk on Saturday, September 9 at 8:45 am when you drop off your skater to confirm the meeting time. The meeting will be held in a meeting room at Hillcrest Centre.

2017 Summer Skating Begins

Just in time to cool off from the summer weather we are enjoying, our Summer Session begins Monday, July 3 and runs to and includes Monday, August 7.

A reminder that Monday lessons will be held at Hillcrest Arena while Wednesday, Friday and Saturday skating will take place at Sunset Rink.

On July 3, there will also be a Vancouver Canadians Baseball Game starting at Nat Bailey stadium at 7:05 pm. Please ensure you allow extra time to get to the rink as traffic will be heavy and parking around Hillcrest Centre will be significantly limited.

We strongly encourage you to check the Vancouver Canadians Baseball Schedule in advance for any Home Games on Monday evenings

For Canskate Parents, to help make the first few lessons go more smoothly for skaters, parents/caregivers, coaches and program assistants, click here for an overview of what to expect at your skater’s first few lessons.

Update on 2017/18 Skating Season

RPFSC is currently in discussion with the City of Vancouver Parks Board for 2017-18 ice time. Our Club’s goals are to continue offering our programs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and to receive additional entitled ice time. Once the City confirms our allocated ice time, we will develop our Fall and Winter Program schedule. We hope to post the schedule by the first week of August and will open on-line registration shortly thereafter. Priority registration will be available to our current members.
