Winter Skills Display and Family Skate – December 21st, 2019

This Annual event consists of a Skating Display, followed by our Family Skate. Photography is allowed at this event.

The Skating Display will showcase skaters from our PreStar and STAR 1-5 & Up programs. Come enjoy the show!

All RPFSC members and their family are welcome to skate afterwards at Family SkateThere will be complimentary skate rentals and helmets available from 10:45am – 12.00pm. In the interest of safety, and depending on the number of participants, there will be two 30-minute sessions. All non-registered RPFSC skaters must sign in before stepping on the ice and are required to wear a CSA certified hockey or skating helmet. These requirements are mandatory for insurance coverage.

Note: NO LESSONS on December 21st, 2019.

RPFSC Annual General Meeting

The RPFSC Annual General Meeting will be taking place on Monday, October 28th, 2019 at 6:30 PM in the Curling Lounge at Hillcrest Centre. The meeting is a great opportunity to meet other parents in the club, learn about club accomplishments from the past year and participate in the Election of Officers.  Click here to read the Agenda for the meeting.

Nominations for Board Officers are now open. Click here to read about available positions and the nomination process. You may nominate a club member for election or re-election by emailing your Nomination Form to [email protected] or dropping the form off at the RPFSC Information Desk prior to the AGM. We will not accept nominations from the floor during the AGM. All nominations must be received by 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 15th, 2019.

Fall Warm Up & CanSkate Clinics

Fall Warm-Up is open to skaters in STAR 1, STAR 2, STAR 3, STAR 4 and STAR 5 & Up. The On Ice and Off Ice sessions will take place on Saturday, September 7th. Please see the schedule below.

CanSkate Clinics (Program Assistant Training) is open to skaters in STAR 2, STAR 3, STAR 4 and STAR 5 & Up. The PA training will take place on Saturday, September 7th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Lunch will be provided. Please come prepared knowing which day(s) you will be able to Program Assist.

Skaters must be registered for the Fall/Winter 2019/20 season and have paid their registration fees prior to being permitted on the ice.

Annual Skate Swap

We will be holding our Annual Skate Swap on December 8th, 2018.

Date: Saturday, December 8th
Time: 9:00am – 12:00pm
Location: Lobby area outside of the rink

If you wish to place items (skates, dresses, bags, etc.) for sale in the swap, it must be received between 8:30am – 9:00am on Saturday, December 8th at the information desk.

There will be envelopes available to mark each item being offered for sale. Print on the envelope: the description of the item, your name, and price for sale. Then attach the envelope to your item.

Please note:  All skates must be approved by the attending coach before being allowed for sale. (The coach will be inspecting skates at 8:30am to ensure that they are in good condition)

Envelopes for sold items and all unsold items can be picked up immediately after the Skate Swap from 12:00pm – 12:45pm. Items not collected will be taken to a consignment store or donated to charity.

Winter Warm Up and Program Assistant Training – Saturday, September 8

Our Annual Winter Warm Up and Program Assistant Training will take place on Saturday, September 8 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Winter Warm Up is for skaters in STAR 1, STAR 2, STAR 3, STAR 4 and STAR 5 and up. Your skater must be registered for Fall session in order to participate in the On-Ice portions of the day.

Program Assistant Training (CanSkate Clinic) 

Skaters who are in Star 2 and up who wish to Program Assist CanSkate during the 2018/19 Skating Season are asked to attend the CanSkate Clinic. Please come with the days you will be available to Program Assist for September to December.

CanSkate sessions run on:

  • Tuesdays – 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Thursdays – 3:45 pm to 4:30 pm
  • Saturdays – 12:00 pm to 12:45 pm

Volunteers Needed for Carnival!

Our Carnival on March 24 is sneaking up and we’re ready to roll up our sleeves!

Our Carnival Committee is looking for parents and guardians to participate in this upcoming event to be fun and successful. Click here for the list of volunteering opportunities available. Our Annual Family Skate is coming up!  This event consists of a Skating Display, followed by our Family Skate. All RPFSC members and their families including siblings are welcome to skate together, after the skills display. There will be skate rentals and helmets available from 10.30am – 12.30pm. Photography is allowed at this event.

The Skating Display will showcase skaters from our PreStar and STAR 1-5 and up programs. They are working on something special for the upcoming Skating Display.

For the Family Skate, in the interests of safety and depending on the numbers, we will have two 30-minute sessions. All non-RPFSC members must sign in before skating and also be required to wear  CSA Certified Hockey helmet. These requirements for non members are essential for insurance coverage.

The Schedule for our event is as follows:
