Seeking Donations for Carnival Raffle Prizes

As Carnival is fast approaching, we are seeking donations for our Carnival Raffle.  The types of items we are requesting include gift cards, service, or merchandise.  These may be oriented towards kids and adults.  If you are not sure if an item/service would fit, please do not hesitate to ask.

Any RPFSC member who donates an item/service with a minimum value of $20 will be credited with 1 volunteer hour, either towards Carnival or the Winter Session to a maximum of 2 hours.

We are making a letter available here if you would like to use it when you approach businesses to solicit items/services.  Again, any items with a $20 value that are donated by a business through your initiative will give you a 1 hour credit towards your Carnival or Winter volunteer hours (to a maximum of 2 hours).

All donations must be received by the RPFSC registration desk or exact description and value details sent to [email protected] by Saturday, March 5th to allow us sufficient time to obtain our Gaming License for our event.

Any questions by be directed to [email protected]

Volunteer Sign Up for Carnival

Carnival is just over a month away and we are now inviting you to sign up to volunteer. As we have two shows, the practice is that each family should volunteer at one show and watch the other.

Here are the duties that are available:

  • Door:  Hand out programmes, sell RPFSC merchandise (eg. water bottles & towels), receive any donations, give donation box to Treasurer
  • CanSkate Sign In: Sign in the CanSkaters as they arrive, dress them in their simple costume, accompany them to the CanSkate  dressing room.
  • CanSkate Dressing Room: Keep CanSkaters occupied during the beginning of the show, get them ready when their number is up, sign the skaters out to their parents at the mini intermission.
  • Star/Open Dressing Room: Be in the dressing room with skaters during show, assist with costume changes, ensure skaters are  ready for their numbers.

Details for StarSkate 1 & 2 and Junior Carnival Costume Fitting – Saturday, February 20

In order to facilitate costume fittings this Saturday, please ensure your skater is present at the Rink Dresssing Room by the following times.  Please be on time.

  • 9:00 am – Junior Skaters
  • 10:00 am – Starskate 2
  • 10:15 am – StarSkate 1

Please note that unless you are a volunteer parent assisting with costume sewing, parents will be asked to remain outside of the designated costume dressing room.

We have costumes for your skaters to try on, and the volunteer moms of the costume committee will then be pinning and making note of alterations that are needed to fit the costume.

This is a time consuming and important process and your patience is appreciated.

If you are a sewer and would like to help us out, please introduce yourself to Dennis Bohme or or Anne Tynan this Saturday.

If for any reason your child will be unable to attend their fitting this weekend, please email Dennis Bohme at [email protected]
