Child Fitness Tax Credit Receipts for 2015

If you paid for your child’s skating lesson fees in 2015, your fees are eligible for the Child Fitness Tax Credit for 2015.  Child Fitness Tax Credits are eligible in the year that they were paid and not the year that the lessons occurred. Therefore, if you paid for your child’s Winter session fees in 2016, the credit will go towards your 2016 taxes.

In the past, parents were able to print the Tax Credit receipts directly from the Skate Canada website. This feature is no longer available through the new Skate Canada membership site.

 If you require a Children’s Fitness Tax Credit Receipt for your 2015 Tax Return, email [email protected] with the following information:

  • Name to appear on receipt
  • Skater’s Name
  • Skater’s year of Birth

Receipts will be available after February 29, 2016.

Carnival Costume Fittings

Hello Carnival Participants,

Carnival 2016 is fast approaching! The Carnival Subcommittee is busy planning and working behind the scenes to make the March 19 event a great success. Our club has acquired and sorted a number of custom-made costumes for our Beatles Program and we are now ready for fittings.
We are planning two costume fittings located at the Rink change rooms.

  1. Saturday, February 13 – 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for Senior and Intermediate Skaters
  2. Saturday, February 20 – 9:00 am to 12:30 pm for Starskate 1 and 2 and Junior Skaters

We request that skaters make arrangements to stay for fittings after they come off the ice. For skaters who wish to have their fitting prior to going on the ice, please come at least 45 minutes prior to your session start time to allow enough time for both the fitting as well as a proper warm up prior to stepping on the ice.

Several “volunteer moms” from the Carnival Subcommittee will be present in each of the change rooms to distribute costumes and help with the costume fitting. Alterations will be made to the costumes, as appropriate, based on the individual fittings.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us complete this task. If your skater cannot come to one of the scheduled fitting, please contact Dennis Bohme at [email protected] to make alternate arrangements. If you have any other questions, you are able to direct them to Dennis.

Winter Session Canskate Parent Meetings

To ensure that our Canskate families and skaters have a positive skating experience with us, we will be holding CanSkate Information Meetings this week for parents/guardians of our CanSkaters.

Our CanSkate Coordinator Carissa Wong will be reviewing safety and equipment, skater evaluation and answering any questions you may have about our program.

The meetings will take place in the lobby of the skating rink as scheduled:

Tuesday, January 26 at 4:00 pm
Thursday, January 28 at 5:00 pm

Note that the Parent meeting for Saturday Canskate was held on the weekend on January 23. If you missed it, please drop by our desk this coming Saturday to pick up the handout.
