2018 Carnival

As in past years, we will be producing our bi-Annual Carnival for Saturday, March 24, 2018. Our Carnival offers our skaters the opportunity to dress up, learn to work with others in group choreography and experience performing in a fun atmosphere.

This past Spring, we invited our StarSkate 1 & 2, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Skaters to make a commitment to participating in our Carnival.  In the new program, this is for Skaters in PreStar, STAR 1, STAR 2, STAR 3, STAR 4 and STAR 5 and up.

We received numerous responses and we are extending one last invitation for your skater to participate in our Bi-Annual Skating Carnival on March 24, 2018.

Producing Carnival involves extensive off-ice and on-ice preparation. Off ice, there are costumes, promotions, and logistics done by our volunteers. On ice, there are practices to ensure sufficient preparation. While RPFSC will cover the majority of the costs to produce Carnival, a fee of approximately $100 will be required of each participant to help offset costs for costumes, ice time and coaching fees.

We also ask that each skater’s family contribute five hours of volunteer time to the Carnival. This is in addition to the annual volunteer commitment to the club. A $20 credit will be given to families who complete five or more hours of volunteering for the Carnival.

What does a skater’s commitment to Carnival entail?

Be available to attend on and off-ice practices from Monday, March 19 to Friday, March 23

There will be 1-2 hour practices scheduled for each day (dependent upon the level of skater) and we will attempt to schedule practice times that will be close to the skaters’ skating schedule.

Participate in two performances on Saturday, March 24, 2018.  (times are approximate)

  • Carnival Show #1 – 9:00 am to 12:45 pm and
  • Carnival Show #2 – 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Pay a Participation Commitment fee of $50 by September 30, 2017 and up to an additional $60 by November 1, 2017

  • The initial $50 fee is non-refundable

We appreciate the extra effort from the skaters and their families and look forward to celebrating our skaters’ and their families’ dedication and hard work at Carnival 2018.

If you/your skater would like to participate, please download and complete Carnival Commitment Form and return it to our Information Desk during our lesson times by September 30, 2017.

Thank you from the RPFSC Board!
